cibo matto

cibo matto is an eclectic and cutting edge japanese duo from new york city. their name can be interpreted in italian as "crazy food" and more loosely as "all foods"... sorta like the buffet-style, musical sampler they serve on their albums. "outside the box" is simply an understatement, if not rude. unfortunately, they split the scene in 2001, and embarked on their own separate artistic journeys (which has led to many amazing pieces). but whatever their individual fates, after i dusted off this cd the other day, i re-experienced their magic which remains innovative, ingenious, and impeccable. i always enjoy sharing ideas for aural attacks (like the internet radio links on my right side-bar... netmusique especially flaresound i love). please feel free to share your musical indulgences with me :)

here's "king of silence" off their 'stereo type A' album (cover pictured above) with their lyrics ~ i'll leave it to you to feeeeeel out their style and sound.
KING OF SILENCE
I can take your pain away if you tear down your fortress of memory I can take your pain away, you don't always need to be strong I can take your pain away, I know we wear different shoes I can take your pain away, barefoot we will tear the truth You are the king of silence You don't need one word to talk to me All I know is we have sympathy Close your eyes and lean your head on me I can take your pain away if you find a remedy in me I can take your pain away you can take as much as you want from me I can take your pain away we have a distance between us I can take your pain away every time we can find the clue

YOU KILLED ME
~ i've also included the clever, dreamy, split-screen video to a song you may have heard called "sugar water". i remember this song from college radio... good ol' days... good stuff. enjoy :)

Raffi,
That's cool song. Retro soul sound. I couldn't hear Sugar Water, "Error 5003" message.

My musical taste is too vast for this box, but depending on the day, I like anything from funk, soul, (anything with a heavy bass line), to screaming guitars and smooth jazz. There's just too many to choose.

On a day like today, I am listening to Gorillaz, Portishead, Tower Of Power, Amy Winehouse and tomorrow I may be listening to Mozart, Ice Cube, or Pavrotti. It depends on which iTunes list I play.

Music is life and life is music. (Hey I should coin that phrase.)
